Herbicides boost Aceto sales
Agrochemical sales of US company Aceto (Lake Success, New York) more than doubled to $7.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2011 (ended December 31st 2010). That compares with $3.2 million in the same period a year earlier. Sales were boosted by the introduction of the herbicide, glyphosate, in the third quarter of fiscal 2010 and increased sales of the herbicides, halosulfuron and asulam. Gross profit rose from $347,000 to $781,000, with gross profit margin up from 10.7% to 16.4%. That was mainly due to the higher halosulfuron sales, Aceto points out.
