Brazilian organic crop sales boom
The Brazilian organic crop market grew by 40% in 2010 to R$350 million ($210 million at the current rate), industry association Projeto Organics Brasil (POB) reports. POB’s 72 associates saw their collective export revenues more than double to $108 million. It estimates that associates account for 60% of the export market. The main exports are of soybeans, sugar, coffee and cocoa. Principal importer countries include the Netherlands, Sweden, the US, France, the UK, Belgium and Canada.
