USDA deregulates Syngenta's Enogen maize

The USDA has deregulated Syngenta’s genetically modified Enogen (Event 3272) maize line. The maize expresses a modified microbial origin thermostable alpha amylase, Amy797E, and was developed for use as feedstock for dry grind ethanol production ( Agrow No 598 pp31-32). Enogen is the first GM maize output trait for ethanol industry use, and will be available from the coming growing season, Syngenta points out.
