AgraQuest agrees Lat Am deals for Sonata
The US biopesticide company, AgraQuest (Davis, California), has agreed two distribution deals for its biofungicide, Sonata ( Bacillus pumilus strain QST 2808), in various Latin American countries. Guatemalan distributor DuWest will have exclusive rights to sell the product in Central America and the Caribbean region. Ecuadorean company Interoc has an exclusive deal covering Colombia and Ecuador. Sonata is for the control of black sigatoka ( Mycosphaerella fijiensis) on bananas. It is a replacement for the fungicide, mancozeb, in season-long treatment programmes, AgraQuest says. The company views “considerable opportunities for expanding Sonata beyond bananas and into other fruits and vegetables”. Sonata is also sold in the US, Mexico and South Korea.
