Chinese agchem output up 30% in 2010
The cumulative output for the Chinese pesticide industry increased by some 30% in 2010 to Yuan 145.4 million ($22.1 million at the current rate), reports the Chinese industry newswire, China Chemical Industry News. A total of 831 companies were engaged in the manufacture of pesticides during December last year, creating gross industrial output for the month of Yuan 13.4 million ($2 million). Despite cumulative overall growth, sales of “new products” fell by 15.3% to Yuan 12.4 million ($1.9 million) in 2010 compared with the previous year. Exports for December were valued at Yuan 1.8 million ($300,000), with the cumulative figure for the 12-month period up 5.8% to Yuan 18 million ($2.7 million).
