Insecticides India acquires monocrotophos brand
Indian generic agrochemical company Insecticides India (Delhi) has acquired the Monocil brand of the organophosphate insecticide, monocrotophos, from Indian company Nocil for an undisclosed amount. The company expects sales of some Rs 400 million ($8.8 million at the current rate) from the brand in 2012. Nocil formed a 49:51 joint venture with DowElanco in 1994, which was completely acquired by Dow in 2005 and renamed Dow AgroSciences India ( Agrow No 466, p 4). Nocil has exited the agrochemical business to focus on rubber chemicals. Insecticides India expects to record revenues of around Rs 5,500 million ($121 million) in the year ending March 31st 2011, reports Reuters.
