Agropharm Africa pyrethrum jv launch
UK pesticide firm Agropharm (High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire) and Rwandan pyrethrum insecticide processing company Sopyrwa (Ruhengeri) are launching a joint venture to construct a pyrethrum refining plant, newswire AllAfrica reports. Sopyrwa parent company Horizon Group is taking a 49% stake, while Agropharm holds a majority 51% of the new entity, Agropharm Africa. It has an initial capital outlay of $1.6 million. Horizon Group chief executive officer Haguma Murashi reportedly says that the company will produce “value-added pesticides” for Rwandan farmers and export markets. Agropharm will enable Sopyrwa to obtain formulas for the production of “quality pesticides”, he adds. The facility is to be located in the Musanze district. Agropharm markets in the UK, Africa and the Middle East.
