Glyphosate drags Nantong Jiangshan down 30% in 2010
A decline in glyphosate herbicide sales contributed to Chinese company Nantong Jiangshan Agrochemical and Chemical’s agrochemical revenues falling by 30.4% to Yuan 1,018.3 million ($154.5 million at the current rate). Agrochemical sales made up 51.3% of the company’s total sales of Yuan 1,984.3 million ($301.2 million). Costs for the company’s agrochemical division were down 27.5% on the previous year. Nantong Jiangshan’s agrochemical sales fell by almost two-thirds in 2008 ( Agrow No 591, p 8), and continued to fall throughout 2009-10 ( Agrow No 605, p 5).
