India cancels Dow product registrations
The Indian Central Insecticides Board’s Registration Committee (CIBRC) has cancelled the registration of three insecticidal products registered to Dow AgroSciences India because of their approval having been obtained by using “unethical” practices. These include: Pride (Nippon Soda’s acetamiprid technical as well as 20% SP formulation), Dursban 10G (chlorpyrifos) and Nurelle (chlorpyrifos 50% + cypermethrin 5%). The committee noted that the cancellation of acetamiprid will not affect subsequent registration of products based on the active ingredient as it has a useful place in the management of sap-sucking insects of cotton. It also noted the availability of alternatives to Nurelle. The Committee will take approval from the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation for cancelling the registrations.
