UK orders withdrawal of Acclaim stocks
The UK Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all stocks of batch number (01 1010) of UK company European Agrichemical’s (Radnage) fungicide, Acclaim (chlorothalonil). Analysis of samples showed levels of the organochlorine fungicide, hexachlorobenzene (HCB), in excess of the permitted maximum under EU law, the CRD says. European Agrichemicals has been requested to take steps to prevent new stock from the batch being placed on the market and to recall remaining stocks held by distributors. Any remaining stocks of the product from the batch are not to be used. The Directorate stipulates that unused containers of the product must be returned and pending return, the product may continue to be stored until June 30th.
