New Zealand approves vertebrate pest agent
The New Zealand Environmental Risk Management Authority (ERMA) has approved the use of a new vertebrate pest control agent, para-aminopropiophenone (PAPP). The approval covers two paste formulations and a ready-to-use bait, which must each be used in bait stations. The New Zealand company, Connovation (Auckland), had applied to import or manufacture the products. PAPP is more humane than other registered agents and presents a reduced risk of secondary poisoning, the ERMA notes. It is the first new vertebrate control agent for some 30 years, Connovation points out.
