US EPA issues draft final NPDES permit
The US EPA has issued a draft final version of its permit covering pesticide applications under the Clean Water Act. The draft version of the general National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit has been released prior to the completion of consultations with the wildlife agencies under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The EPA is the NPDES permitting authority for just six states and the release of the draft is intended to guide the other states in developing their own permits. However, the final permit may be revised following ESA consultations, the Agency points out.
