Brazil empty container recycling accelerates
Empty pesticide container recycling is ever improving in Brazil. After record annual recycling last year, the figures for the first two months of 2011 show a 25% rise on the same period last year, according to the pesticide container disposal organisation, the inpEV. It confirms the preliminary findings for 2010 that 31,266 tonnes were collected ( Agrow No 608, p 14), and reports that recycling in January and February reached 5,280 tonnes against 4,234 tonnes in the same months last year. In the 12 months ending February 2011, some 32,311 tonnes had been collected. Almost 90% of such containers were collected or recycled. The organisation claims Brazil to be the world leader in pesticide container recycling.
