Fersol accuses Anvisa of bias on Brazil agchems

Brazilian agrochemical company Fersol (Mairinque) has accused the national authorities of favouring multinational companies over generic producers in their regulation of the sector. It sent an open letter to the Brazilian Parliament complaining of apparent favouritism over the cancellation or phase-out of pesticide registrations, using the organophosphate insecticide, methamidophos, as a recent example. It follows the recent order to phase out the active ingredient by the national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa ( Agrow No 608, p 14).
