Chinese companies fight for imidacloprid orders

Chinese companies were slashing prices for the insecticide, imidacloprid, in a bid to win orders at last month's CAC exhibition in Shanghai, one of the largest international trade platforms for the agrochemical industry, reports the Chinese newspaper, the AgriGoods Herald. At their height in 2009, Chinese export prices for imidacloprid had reached Yuan 200,000 ($30,518 at the current rate)/tonne. This had decreased to approximately Yuan 115,000 ($17,548)/tonne by last year, and at the CAC some enterprises quoted prices “far lower” than Yuan 115,000/tonne to win contracts.
