EU provisional approvals to be extended for five new ais
Extensions of provisional approvals for five new active ingredients have been cleared by the EU regulatory committee. The ais are: Citrex Nederland’s fungicide, ascorbic acid; Kureha’s fungicide, ipconazole; German company Sourcon Padena’s biopesticide , Pseudomonas fluorescens strain DSMZ 13134; Bayer CropScience’s insecticide, spiromesifen; and BASF’s herbicide, topramezone. The decision goes forward for formal adoption by the Commission. Provisional approvals are for three years to cover the time taken to complete the EU registration process. If more time is needed, extensions usually run for up to two years. This is the second extension for ascorbic acid, spiromesifen and topramezone ( Agrow passim).
