Gowan/SDS Biotech benzobicyclon deal in US
US agrochemical company Gowan (Yuma, Arizona) is to develop, register and exclusively sell Japanese company SDS Biotech’s (Tokyo) rice herbicide, benzobicyclon, in the US. The active ingredient controls sedges, grass and broadleaf weeds in flooded rice. In field studies conducted in the US, it has shown strong activity against sulfonylurea-resistant weeds and long residual control, Gowan says. Under the agreement, Gowan, in co-operation with SDS, has started the registration process and initiated an extensive development programme.
