Syngenta to open new US biotech unit
Syngenta is to construct a new US plant biotechnology research centre adjacent to its existing facility in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The $71 million unit will focus on traits for stress tolerance and yield improvement. The site’s existing focus on maize and soybeans will be expanded to include crops such as small-grain cereals, sugar cane and vegetables. The new facility is due to be fully operational in the second half of 2012.
