Peru to change agchem import system
A Peruvian multi-sector commission is preparing a new regime for importing pesticides. It follows a ruling from the Andean Court of Justice that the Peruvian government’s regime for the import of pesticides runs foul of regulations for the region’s customs union. The Court rules on matters of the Andean Community, covering Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Its verdict seeks to abolish Peru’s import regime, the AIU, and so prevent the direct import of pesticides. The Ministry of Agriculture is involved along with other regulators, national media report.
