Glyphosate used on two-thirds of US maize
Two-thirds of the US maize acreage was treated with the herbicide, glyphosate (isopropylamine salt), in 2010, according to the latest survey data from the USDA. It was the most widely used herbicide on the crop, with usage totalling some 57.5 million lbs (26,000 tonnes). The survey was based on 25 states accounting for 94% of the US maize area.
