Philippines to prosecute GMO vandals

The provincial prosecution office of the Philippine province of Laguna is to prosecute activists from the environmentalist group, Greenpeace, who destroyed field trials of genetically modified insect-resistant Bt aubergines (eggplants) in February, reports Philippine newswire Searca. The trials were being conducted in the city of Bay by the University of the Philippines, Los Baños (UPLB - Agrow No 611, p 27). The destruction of the trials caused damages worth Philippine Peso 25 million ($574,000).
