Australian mouse baits face investigation

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) is to investigate reports of illegal on-farm mixing of unregistered pesticides with grain to produce mouse baits. It recently expressed concern over the risks to operators and bystanders from such action ( Agrow No 616, p 22). The APVMA has issued a number of emergency use permits for approved zinc phosphide products to be used to control mice infestations. It has also granted permits for the use of baits manufactured from bromadiolone and coumatetralyl.
