US EPA to cancel non-compliant rodenticides

The US EPA is to start product cancellation proceedings against four companies selling household rodenticides that do not comply with restrictions laid down in 2008. Registrants of rodenticides based on ten active ingredients were given until June 4th 2011 to meet the new standards. The Agency banned the use of second-generation anticoagulants (brodifacoum, bromadiolone, difenacoum and difethialone) from retail products and required first-generation anticoagulants (chlorophacinone, diphacinone and warfarin) and non-anticoagulants (bromethalin, cholecalciferol and zinc phosphide) to be sold in bait stations ( Agrow No 545, p 15).
