Excel Crop Care up 15% in 2010
Indian agrochemical company Excel Crop Care (Mumbai) recorded consolidated net sales of Rs 7,194 million ($158 million at the current rate) in the year ended March 31st 2011, an increase of 15% over the previous 12 months. Net profit increased by 14.6% to Rs 425 million ($9 million). A ban on the production, sale and use of the insecticide/acaricide, endosulfan, by the Indian Supreme Court last month forced the company to suspend production and sale of the active ingredient ( Agrow No 616, p 23). The ai is a major product of the company and it is revising its sales plan and marketing strategy, while “also undertaking other measures to mitigate the adverse impact”. Excel established a whollyowned subsidiary, Excel Brasil Agronegocios, in Brazil in March this year.
