US approval for Syngenta's Besiege
Syngenta has received US approval for the insecticide, Besiege (DuPont’s chlorantraniliprole + lambda-cyhalothrin), for use on cotton, tobacco and pastures. The product provides broad-spectrum control of key lepidopteran and sucking/chewing pests, the company says. Besiege is suitable for use in all areas of the southern US, including those with emerging resistance to pyrethroid insecticides, it adds. Syngenta gained US approval for a chlorantraniliprole/lambda-cyhalothrin combination, Voliam Xpress, for use on vegetables in 2008 ( Agrow No 553, p 22).
