Green groups lobby US EPA on ESA process

An alliance of more than 130 US environmentalist and farmworker groups from 35 states has written to the EPA urging it to carry out formal consultations with the wildlife agencies on the risks of pesticides to endangered species. The consultation process under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) is a “necessary and workable tool for implementing common sense restrictions on the use or method of application for certain pesticides in environmentally sensitive areas”, the letter states.
