Pioneer opens maize research centre in Germany
DuPont seed subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International has opened a maize research centre at Langenbach in Germany. It is the company’s third centre at the location and will employ five full-time positions and additional seasonal staff. It extends the Pioneer testing network in south-east Germany for improved local characterisation of new maize hybrids and will be linked with the company’s global network of more than 110 research centres. The primary focus of breeding efforts at the unit will be the development of early silage and biogas maize hybrids suited to growing conditions across northern Europe.
