Bayer debuts Alion in Chile
Bayer CropScience has launched its residual herbicide, Alion 500 SC (indaziflam 500 g/litre), in Chile. The product is a suspension concentrate formulation for use on fruit and nut trees to control broadleaf weeds and grasses. The authorities approved the herbicide last month, the first product based on the active ingredient to be registered in South America. The company gained its first global approval for the ai in the US last year as Specticle for use on turf ( Agrow No 599, p 20). It has subsequently been granted US registration for the herbicide on fruit ( Agrow No 615, p 28). Indaziflam is among six ais in Bayer’s current 2010-12 pesticide launch phase, which are expected to reach peak sales of €1,000 million ($1,460 million).
