Uruguay strong agchem controls for fruit exports

Uruguay enjoys successful self controls of pesticides from its growers and pack houses, the EU’s Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) says. That provides assurance that fruit intended for export to the EU comply with EU maximum residue levels (MRLs) and the absence of EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) notifications since 2009 reflect this, the Office reports following an audit of April this year. Official controls have mainly followed reported non-compliance and are focused on follow ups to complaints pesticide product misuse or RASFF notifications.
