Chinese glyphosate prices fall 12% in H1
The price of the herbicide, glyphosate, in China continued to drop in the first half of the year, following an extended period of falling returns for Chinese manufacturers, reports the Chinese newswire, National Business Daily. In early January this year, glyphosate prices were Yuan 24,500/tonne ($3,738/tonne at the current rate). They had fallen 12.2% to Yuan 21,500/tonne ($3,281/tonne) by the end of June. The gross profit ratio for glyphosate in 2010 was 7.6%, falling 10.7 percentage points on the previous year. The figure for 2011 is expected to remain at that level, the reports adds. Glyphosate dominated China's pesticide export market in 2010, with exports of the ai totalling 448,000 tonnes ( Agrow No 613, pp 18-19).
