US EPA to OK Marrone bioinsecticide
The US EPA has proposed the registration of US biopesticide company Marrone Bio Innovations’ (Davis, California) bioinsecticide/acaricide, Triple Crown ( Chromobacterium substugae strain PRAA4-1). It is for the control of aphids, whiteflies and foliar-feeding lepidopteran and coleopteran pests, and plant-sucking mites on a wide range of fruit, vegetables, field crops, turf and ornamentals. The bioinsecticide is recommended for use at 4-12 quarts/acre (9.4-28.1 litres/ha). The EPA notified receipt of the application earlier this year ( Agrow No 609, p 22). The approval decision is open to public comment until August 20th.
