Syngenta debuts pinoxaden herbicides in Spain
Syngenta has launched two pinoxaden-based cereal herbicides in Spain. Axial (pinoxaden+ cloquintocet-methyl safener) is an emulsion concentrate formulation for use on barley and wheat. It controls wild oats ( Avena spp), ryegrasses ( Lolium spp) and blackgrass ( Alopecurus myosuroides). Traxos (pinoxaden + clodinafop-propargyl) is also an emulsion concentrate formulation. It is for use against the same weeds as Axial on wheat only, with the company targeting durum wheat in Andalusia and soft wheat in the north. Syngenta has “high hopes” for these products. Pinoxaden has been one of its big sellers in Europe recently (see this issue). The launches are the first for pinoxaden in Spain. The Ministry of the Environment and Agriculture authorised the active ingredient earlier this year. Traxos has already been approved elsewhere in Europe.
