Dow acquires US cereal seed firm
Dow AgroSciences has acquired the US cereal seed company, Northwest Plant Breeding (Pullman, Washington), for an undisclosed amount. The move will enable Dow to expand its Hyland Seeds certified wheat seed programme into the Pacific Northwest region, the company points out. It acquired the Canadian seed firm, Hyland Seeds, last year ( Agrow No 583, p 3). Dow will open a cereal seed breeding station in Pullman, which is expected to be operational by March 2012.
