EU prov approvals extended for nine new ais

The European Commission has allowed EU member states to extend existing three-year provisional approvals for nine new active ingredients until July 31st 2013. The decision was taken as more time is needed to complete the EU registration process ( Agrow No 620, p 7). The ais comprise: Agro-Kanesho’s acaricide, acequinocyl, which is approved in Germany and the Netherlands; Andermatt Biocontrol’s bioinsecticide, Adoxophyes orana granulosis virus strain BV-0001 (Cyprus, Germany, Italy and Slovenia); Dow AgroSciences’ herbicides, aminopyralid (16 member states) and pyroxsulam (15); Bayer CropScience/Nihon Nohyaku’s insecticide, flubendiamide (Cyprus, Greece, Spain and the Netherlands) and Bayer’s herbicide, thiencarbazone (Germany, Hungary and Romania); Syngenta’s fungicide, mandipropamid (26 member states); BASF/Nihon Nohyaku’s insecticide, metaflumizone (11 member states); and German company S&A (Service und Anwendungstechnik)’s post-harvest treatment, phosphane (Germany).
