Japan rice herbicide market steady
A total of 27,429 tonnes of rice herbicides were applied in Japan in 2010, worth ¥55,401 million ($717 million at the current rate), according to the Japan Association for Advancement of Phyto-Regulators (JAPR). The total area of rice treated, including multiple applications, was 2.8 million ha, according to JAPR estimates reported by Hokko Chemical Industry. The figures reveal a 2.8% fall in volumes, but a 0.4% increase in value, compared with the previous year ( Agrow No 598, p 35). The area treated remained the same.
