Syngenta opens bio-factory in Portugal
Syngenta’s IPM business, Syngenta Bioline, has opened a “bio-factory” in Portugal to produce beneficial insects and mites, such as bumblebees, for use in IPM systems. The Faro-based plant “considerably” raises capacity for the business to supply insects and mites for EU and markets further afield on various crops. The facility covers 5 ha of greenhouse space. The company claims to be the only worldwide supplier of seeds, crop protection and beneficial insects for agriculture.
