Indian endosulfan ban to continue

The Indian Supreme Court has refused to lift a ban on the production, sale and use of the organochlorine insecticide/acaricide, endosulfan, reports Indian newspaper The Hindu. However, the Court directed an expert committee to suggest the terms under which existing stocks with manufacturers could be exported. The Court imposed a temporary ban on the active ingredient in May while also appointing an expert committee to undertake a national study on its alleged ill-effects on human health and the environment ( Agrow No 616, p 23).
