Pioneer opens maize plant in Austria
DuPont seed subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International has opened a maize parent seed production plant in Parndorf, Austria. It involved a $6 million investment and is located on an area of 10,000 m 2. Pioneer has been producing commercial seed in Parndorf for nearly 30 years and the new plant is its first parent seed production facility in Austria and second in Europe. The additional equivalent of nine full-time employees at the plant will take the company’s number of full-time employees to over 140. “We’re expanding our production, research and testing facilities as well as the teams in our plants, in our labs and in the field,” says Pioneer’s vice-president of production, Mike Gumina.
