Nissan's agchem sales up 2.8% in first quarter
Nissan Chemical’s agrochemical sales totalled ¥7,131 million ($93 million at the current rate) in the first quarter ended June 30th 2011, up by 2.8% on the same quarter in the previous year. Operating income of the agrochemical business increased by 47.9% to ¥1,155 million ($15 million). The company had predicted that sales would rise this year because distributors had completed their adjustments to glyphosate herbicide stocks ( Agrow No 619, p 5). The adjustments, made in response to lower prices, hit Nissan’s herbicide sales in the year to March 31st 2011 ( Agrow ibid).
