Brazil allows emergency use of aluminium phosphide

Brazil has authorised the emergency use of the fumigant, aluminium phosphide, as a substitute for methyl bromide, on shipments of chestnuts. The Ministry of Agriculture set a period of 12 months for its use. Any company interested in marketing the fumigant for such use must apply for an emergency use registration, including submitting relevant studies. The Ministry issued the regulation in the official gazette on August 4th.
