Brazil Anvisa to OK biocontrol agent
The Brazilian national health surveillance agency, the Anvisa, has proposed the registration of the biological control agent, Phytoseiulus macropilis. The registration would cover use of live insects for the control of red spider mites ( Tetranychus urticae) on crops grown for export. The Anvisa is to add the agent to its list of approved active ingredients pending a 30-day comment period ending this month. Final approval for use requires Ministry of Agriculture authorisation.
