Germany suspends clomazone
The German federal office for consumer protection and food safety, the BVL, has suspended all authorisations for the herbicide, clomazone. The “precautionary” action comes after reports of health problems following field application of the herbicide in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Investigations are on to determine if clomazone was the cause of the health problems. The herbicide is approved for commercial use and not for the home and garden sector, the BVL says.
