US EPA mulls rodenticide cancellations
The US EPA has scheduled a meeting of its FIFRA Scientific Advisory Panel (SAP) to consider plans to cancel the registrations of some household rodenticides because registrants failed to adopt risk-reduction methods laid down in 2008. Registrants of rodenticides based on ten active ingredients were given until June 4th 2011 to meet the new standards. The EPA indicated in June that it would start cancellation proceedings against non-compliant products ( Agrow No 618, p 15). The SAP meeting will consider the effect of the proposed cancellations on health and the environment, and review the underlying scientific assessment. It is scheduled for November 29th-December 1st.
