Bayer/VIB UGent launch crop improvement project

Bayer CropScience and Belgian research institute VIB-UGent are to collaborate in developing crops with improved yield and stress tolerance. The programme will run in two parts, with the first project looking at the epigenetic variations between different crop varieties as a basis for selection of new characteristics. The aim is to develop epigenetic control as a new molecular tool for the improvement of agricultural crops, Dr Johan Botterman, head of product research at Bayer BioScience, points out.
