EU phase-out for flufenoxuron and propargite

The European Commission has decided not to re-register the insecticide/acaricide, flufenoxuron, and the acaricide, propargite. It has instructed EU member states to withdraw approvals by the end of 2011. They may allow existing stocks to be sold and used until December 31st 2012. Both active ingredients had been temporarily withdrawn from the EU review of existing ais after the initial assessment revealed data gaps. BASF re-applied for flufenoxuron, while Chemtura subsidiary Crompton resubmitted the application for propargite.
