USDA halts post-harvest pesticide survey
The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Survey (NASS) has suspended the collection of data for this year’s post-harvest pesticide use survey because of budget cuts. The NASS was due to report on post-harvest pesticide use on maize in spring 2012. However, this will not take place unless there is a change in the anticipated budget shortfall, the NASS points out. It published survey data on post-harvest pesticide use on wheat in 2009/10 this year ( Agrow No 612, p 16). Surveys were suspended between 2007 and 2009 due to budget constraints.
