Brazil agchem sales boom ahead of planting
Sales of pesticides in the main pre-planting period in Brazil are rising strongly, according to the latest estimates from the national agrochemical industry trade association, the Sindag. Sales in the month of August were up by some 16% to R$1,614 million ($855 million at the current rate) over the same month last year. The accumulated sales for the first eight months of the year grew by 7% to R$6,039 million ($3,197 million), Sindag’s market data chief, Ivan Amancio Sampaio, says. That is a move up on the under 4% growth for the first seven months ( Agrow No 623, p 15). “We are anticipating sales to top US$8,000 million for the year, and some R$13,500 million in our currency,” Mr Sampaio told Agrow.
