Plantec to expand in Latin America
Brazilian laboratory services company Plantec (Sao Paulo) is planning to expand its business to other Latin American countries and the US, Brazilian newswire Agrolink reports. The company specialises in pesticide residue quality control. It aims to raise revenues to R$50 million (US$33 million at the current rate) next year. It has five working laboratories in Brazil, and is to re-open two mothballed units by the end of this year, director Alexandre Santos says. “We will be re-opening two labs due to rising demands, and will look at more units in Latin America, such as in Chile,” he says. The first new unit will open in Chile at a cost of US$5 million, with others anticipated in Peru, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
