California EPA streamlines evaluations
The US California EPA’s Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has streamlined the evaluation of phytotoxicity and efficacy data submitted for pesticide registrations or amendments. Both are evaluated by the registration branch’s disease protection unit for applications involving registered active ingredients. A pilot project showed that evaluation times could be halved if a separate review of phytotoxicity data was not routinely conducted. Phytotoxicity data are still evaluated by the plant physiology unit for applications involving new ais or adjuvants intended for general use, the DPR notes.
