Nine ais clear Brazil minor-use approval hurdle

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture says that minor uses for nine of 13 requested pesticide active ingredients have “shown the potential to be approved” through a 2010 regulation, national media report. The provisionally accepted ais are: the herbicides, carfentrazone-ethyl, clethodim, flumioxazin and pendimethalin; and the insecticides, imidacloprid, novaluron, teflubenzuron, thiamethoxam and thiacloprid. The cassava product chain chamber’s technical commission of pesticide registrations applied for the authorisation of the ais to the Ministry’s working group on minor crop pesticide registrations.
